The Hazards of Industrial Agriculture

The Hazards of Industrial Agriculture
1.      The growing international trend / in organic farming / is driven by consumer demand, / which is currently rising / at the rate of 20 percent per year. / countries with the highest growth rate / include Argentina, the US, and China, / in that order. / people the world over / are becoming increasingly conscious / of the adverse effects / of industrial agriculture and view organically grown food / as a healthier alternative. While the majority / tend to be sympathetic / to small-scale farmers / and especially appreciate / the benefits of locally grown food, / they lake exception to factory farms / controlled by multinational corporations. / In particular, / they object to / the corporate focus on maximizing profits / at the expense of health / and environmental concerns.
2.            Health risks include pesticide residues, antibiotics, and hormones as well as the unknown impact of biological engineering. First, recent studies indicate that many produce items are heavily coated with pesticides have been linked with cancer. Second, the antibiotics we ingest from both plant and animal sources lead to the development of super bugs, which are increasingly difficult to combat. Third, plant and animal growth hormones are known to disrupt the endocrine system* and have the potential to bring on premature  puberty in children. Fourth, the unregulated use of genetically modified organisms makes these items virtually invisible in today's grocery stores. People have no way of knowing whether a product has had its genetic code tampered with by artificial means. Furthermore, they have no ideas how this genetic manipulation could impact their health.
3.            The environmental hazards of industrial agriculture comprise air pollution, global warming, water contamination, oceanic dead zones, animal cruelty, decreased biodiversity, **, and unsustainable farmlands. Moreover, there is the vicious cycle of producers having to use more pesticides and fertilizer are the largest global source of nitrous oxide emission, which are 300 times more toxic than carbon dioxide gases. If these ate allowed to continue unchecked, they will not only affect air-pollution levels but also dangerously intensify our current global warming crisis.
4.          According to authorities, water pollution is one of the most rising from conventional farming methods. Animal waste, artificial fertilizers, and pesticides leach into the soil. Then they run off through natural irrigation to contaminate groundwater, which accounts for a large portion of our water supply. Studies consistently show that nitrates from waste and fertilizers, and chemicals from pesticides, are creating permanent damage to groundwater around the world. Furthermore, the preponderance of nitrogen in fertilizers, which helps crops grow ends up harming oceans. It generates algal overgrowth that depletes so much oxygen in the water that no plan for animal can survive. This is how the dead zones in the Gulf of Mexico and the Black Sea were created.
5.          Industrial mon-cropping ( in which one crop is repeatedly planted on a single field with synthetic fertilizers) kills the microorganisms needed to produce soil nutrients. Accordingly, the soil becomes less fertile over time, which leads to of the soil, farmers then have to use even more fertilizers to maintain productivity. This leads to a vicious cycle whereby greater environmental hazards are created, and the soil degrades even further. Likewise with pesticides, whereby only the fittest pests survive, farmers are forced to use greater amounts or more toxic forms to eradicate them.
6.           Organic farming, on the other hand, prohibits or strictly  limits the use of synthetic fertilizers and pesticides, hormones, antibiotics, and genetically modified organisms, thus avoiding or greatly reducing all of the issues involved in industrial agriculture. It infuses the soil with more essential nutrients as a result of holistic farming techniques such as crop rotation, whereby different crops are planted on the soil and ensures its sustainability and overall quality. Organic agriculture also takes the welfare of farm animals into grater consideration. Confining livestock in small indoor spaces is far less common, especially on small-scale organic farms, and pumping them with antibiotics is never done. On free-range farms, animals are allowed to roam freely, thereby reducing stress and their susceptibility to disease.

*The endocrine system: This bodily system includes glands, such as the thyroid gland, that produce hormones. The system plays an important role in regulating metabolism, growth, puberty and overall mood.
**Biodiversity: A wide variety of plants and animals within an ecosystem.

My own aspiration
How can I start to write this objective? I can't study Math, Physic and all the subjects involves to natural science. I'm actually know that everybody absolutely lough at me a lot that I feel like this, while I'm in grade 12 now. You approximately knew that the examination for grade 12 really important and all the students have to pass it. After that they can impossible continue to do the thing they have a goal to achieve. Right that general students must to study a lot, just can lead they to get a good future and be a good student and good child because of they can follow with their teacher and their parents advised them. But…..I don't think so, I don't do the thing I don't want. I don't like someone intensive me to do everything as them. Do you know how many people like studying all the subjects and how many people can study all the subjects? How many people can do this or achieve this? If so, do they can be a stronger on them? May be no way that they can be a strong for all the subjects. It can until they have a famous brain. I believe that probably have a little bit of people like to the above! Many students always have their individual favorite subjects only a fewer, but all of them were intensive by teacher and parents that wanted them to study all the subjects and they can't complaint. Many of them have lost any of their own skill subjects because of sharing their brain to other subjects. We can be a smarter on any subjects, we have to focus on only that subjects not all.

Before I wrote this text, I knew that will have someone doesn't exciting with this, and even discourage it but I don't mention with them because I've known that mostly of people around the globe like doing things they love. Therefore, If you don't like this text you can stop to read it and it's exactly no matter, but even it is good or bad, you can't limit…Right? The same as Williom Shakspeare said "Nothing is good or bad, but people are limiter." Right now! You think your way is better and also me!

All the people in the world now have goal to achieve, even you and me or others, but how many people can get a success on their plan?  I'm also have a plan now and I really want to achieve it. When I finished from high school I want continue to study at faculty of English. I don't expect that what job I will get from my studying but I just want to do the thing I love, that my main aim. After that I will choose a partner and marry. We will have only a fewer children and we'll spend the time together on visiting in many famous resort on our vacation. I will work hard to earn lots of money to take care of my family. I want to have my own business that can lead me have a good experience from a complicated life. I want to do a good husband and good father or good sun for my own family and my parents. I won't be a complicated person for my family and I'll be a simple to them and do the thing they can get. I'll encourage my children to do thing they love and I won't intensive them, but I'm also have to take care of them.

ESKIMO ART

ESKIMO ART

A climate of ice and snow stretches across northern Siberia, Alaska, Canada, and Greenland for most of the year. Nothing grows. It is always cold. But the Eskimos are able to live there. They have lived in North America for at least 28,000 years. Eskimos call themselves Inuit, which means "people". For thousands of years the Inuit thought they were the only people in the world because they never saw other people.

Life in this part of the world is probably the most difficult anywhere. People have only necessary things. But they have developed beautiful art because for them art is very important – it is essential.

The Eskimo artist takes a piece of ivory from a sea animal and holds it in his hands. Slowly he turns it, feels it, and locks at it. Then he begins carving the piece of ivory with a knife. As he begins cutting and shaping, he starts to dream. He knows there is a hidden form of an animal in the ivory. As the artist dreams and carves, the animal slowly appears. It might be a seal or a whale. It might be a life close to mature. They feel a closeness to the land and to the people and animals that live there. Eskimos know how animals move and how they look when they stand still. The Eskimo artist is able to make an ivory or bone animal that catches the feeling of a living animal exactly.

Why do Eskimos make small animals from ivory? Do these animals have a special meaning in Eskimo society? Social scientists cannot answer these questions. The Eskimos do not tell them, so they can only guess.

A small ivory animal is not just a copy of a live one. It has something of the animal itself in it. Making the animal is more important to the Eskimo artist than owning or keeping it when it is finished. When an artist carves an ivory animal, he or she understands better how it feels to be an animal.

It is important to the Eskimos to feel and handle the small animal carving. Handling makes them smooth, and smoothness improves the carvings. They become even more beautiful. Many of the ivory animals do not have perfect shapes and will not stand up. They fall aver and roll around. This is not important. People should hold and feel the carvings, not just look at them.

Small Eskimo carvings of animals, birds, and people are very popular among people who visit the area where Eskimos live can see their art in museums. Most of us never see whales or seals, but when we see the beautiful form and color of and ivory or bone animal, we know beautiful the real animal are.

Test Question
Some people believe watching TV is bad for children. Others believe it is a good thing. Compare these two views. Which view do you agree with and why? Please provide specific reasons, details, and examples to support your response.

Television viewing has become part of modern everyday life. Everyone has at least one TV set in their home. As a result, people question what kind of effect television programing has on youth. Opponents cite numerous disadvantages, while advocates list various benefits. Those who question the value of television argue that watching TV is primarily a passive activity. A lack of physical exercise can trigger conditions such as obesity, and inadequate mental stimulation can lead to a lack of creativity and imagination. Second, those against television for children note that a large number of programs are inappropriate.

The advertisements alone promote a consumerist and materialistic attitude. Furthermore, the gratuitous violence in many shows, including even Saturday cartoons, may encourage this same type of behavior in young people.

On the other hand, advocates of television viewing for children submit the medium offers both education and entertainment. For example, there are many documentaries that provide excellent learning opportunities. In addition, young people studying a new language and idioms from virtually any type of show. Television is also a valid form of entertainment. Families can enjoy quality time together while sharing laughs over a typical situation comedy. Furthermore, parents who need a break for an hour can entertain their kids by sitting them down in front of the tube. Finally, parents can use television as a reward, for instance, after the children have completed their homework assignments.

In weighing the pros and cons of TV for children, I believe that limited and monitored television viewing for children is appropriate. Parents should decide on the suitability of specific programs and restrict the total number of hours per day. This will prevent negative outcomes such as passivity, materialism, and aggression. selective viewing, however, especially if it is educational or entertaining for either the child or the entire family, many prove entirely worthwhile.
